Recycle your Christmas tree at these Houston locations

Getting rid of that Christmas tree?
The city of Houston will take in your recycled Christmas trees.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Are you ready to toss your Christmas tree?

If you live in Houston:

You can toss your tree at one of the city's free-drop off recycling sites.

If you receive trash pick-up from the city of Houston, you can place your tree on the curb, however, it's only on designated tree waste days.

Also, before you toss your tree out make sure you remove the lights and ornaments.

If you live in Pearland or Friendswood:

The Stella Roberts Recycling Center

Both real and fake Christmas trees can be dropped off from Dec. 26 to Jan. 12 at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center, located at 5800 Magnolia Road, Pearland. Trees can be dropped off from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. The Christmas trees must be without tinsel or flocking. Real Christmas trees recycled here will aid Brazoria County with the Dunes Day project to restore the county's sand dunes. 281-489-2795.

Brazoria County Precinct 2 Workyard

Those close to Manvel can recycle their real Christmas tree at the Brazoria County Precinct 2 work yard, located at 7315 Corporate Drive, Manvel. The trees will help with the county's Dunes Day project. Trees can be left during business hours from 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Trees left after business hours can be left outside the gate. Trees can be dropped off from Dec. 26 to Jan. 13. 979-864-1548.

City of Pearland

Those who live in a single-family dwelling within the Pearland city limits can leave their real trees on the curb on their designated green waste day. 281-652-1600.

City of Friendswood

Those who live in the Friendswood city limits can leave their real Christmas trees curbside by 7 a.m. on their trash pickup days. Green waste and recycling will not be picked up on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1 and will instead be picked up on Dec. 28 or Jan. 4. 281-996-3200.
