Child in northwest Harris County saves family from house fire

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A child in northwest Harris County is being credited with alerting their family to a fire in their home Monday night.

Firefighters arrived at the home on Blue Cedar Lane, near Deerbrook Park around 10:30 p.m.

Firefighters say the child awoke to the smell of smoke and went downstairs to tell the family about a fire on the second floor.

No one was hurt. The Fire Marshal's Office is looking into the cause.
