Security video captures a crook igniting a carjacking victim's truck just minutes after the victim was shot

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Security video captures a crook igniting a carjacking victim's truck just before 9pm Monday night. The flames led to the pickup exploding on Lawn Arbor Drive.

Deputies are still searching for the suspect who earlier shot Ed Turner, 68 and stole his 2003 silver Ford F-150.

Turner was shot four times in his driveway off the 12400 block of Sarti. He was taken by ambulance to Ben Taub General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Family members say Turner underwent surgery last night and remains in an intensive care unit this morning. He will need more surgery.

Turner, a retiree, had just returned home when two men in their 20's approached. As he was waiting for the ambulance and bleeding, he described what happened.

"He confronted him and asked if he could help. He said when the guy pulled the gun out, he struck one of them in the face with a pole," said Jonathan Luna, who used his shirt as a pillow to comfort Turner after the shooting.

Residents on Lawn Arbor reported finding Turner's truck on fire around 8:45pm Monday. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office says there was another carjacking nearby around 9:30pm. They are looking into whether the two are connected. The gunmen are still at large.
