Head Start moms get rehabbed cars from collision centers

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Two mothers will each receive a big gift this holiday season -- a car.

The cars are a gift from Bates Collision Centers. It's a tradition in which two mothers with the Harris County Department of Education's Head Start program receive fixed-up cars for the holiday.

The model and make of the two cars remain a surprise until they're unwrapped. The cars are traditionally filled with gifts and community members donate gas, insurance and materials needed to rehab the cars.

This year's recipients are Galena Park-area mother Ashley Henderson and her 3-year-old daughter Kaysin, who attends the Head Start Center in the Fifth Ward, and Baytown mom Selena Elias and her 3-year-old daughter Camila.
