HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Houston Firefighters are throwing a big charity event tonight, and they stopped by the abc13 station to share how they're giving back.
Robbie Wienserski, Aaron Gilbert and Sam Knight take their jobs as Fire Fighters seriously, so they eat healthy and exercise, so they stay strong to save lives.
"It always feels good when you can help someone else that can't help themselves," says Knight.
"You're risking your life to save someone you don't know. To do that, it takes a special person, I think," adds Wienserski.
Today, their purpose is to help raise money for the very children they've rescued.
"The foundation is the Houston Fire Fighter Burn Children's Fund. We raise money to help the kids being treated at Shriners for events to get them out of the hospital and events in the hospital," explains Gilbert.
It's a charity they hold dear.
"I think the funnest times that we have are the times we spend down at Shriners with the kids," recalls Gilbert.
"It really touches home with us, and it's a lot of fun," says Wienserski.
These firefighters plan to show off their physiques to raise money tonight at Big Texas Spring and through selling the 2017 Houston Fire Fighters Calendar.
"They go for $20. You can buy them online, or if you see one of the calendar guys, most of us carry them with us in our vehicles, and we'll actually sell them to you there," says Gilbert.
These men all happen to be centerfolds. Wienserski is March. You can flip to November to see Knight, and Gilbert is not only Mr. December, but you'll see him on the cover.
They'll be selling their calendars tonight at Big Spring Texas for $20 and all twelve fire fighters for the twelve months of the year will be putting on a show that includes some steamy dance moves that starts at 7pm.
"I'm not much of a dancer, but I put a little something out," says Wienserski.
The calendar costs $20. You can pick up your own calendar at Houston Firefighters Burned Children's Fund.
