GALVESTON, TX (KTRK) -- Early this morning a man reportedly jumped overboard from one of the Galveston Ferry boats. Immediately, ferry staff began rescue operations with the assistance of the United States Coast Guard.

Initially, the boat from which the man jumped, the John W. Johnson, was idle with 29 vehicles and 87 passengers as crews dropped rescue boats to search for the man. The boat continued onto the Bolivar side and all vehicles and passengers onboard were offloaded with assistance of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Ferry operations were suspended for a couple of hours, but have since resumed.
