HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A young man who was just riding his bike is dead, and now deputies want to find the person who killed him in east Harris County.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says 20-year-old Clepatrick Palmer was riding his bike along Beaumont Highway and Sheldon Road around 9:15pm when a pickup truck hit him.

Witnesses say the driver stopped, got out of the truck, looked, then got back in and took off.

The driver was seen in an older model Suburban. The driver fled eastbound on Beaumont Highway after failing to stop and render aid, deputies say.

The victim was transported to Life Flight to Memorial Herman Hospital in the Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The case is still under investigation.
