PORTER, TX (KTRK) -- A man and woman now face felony charges after Precinct 4 deputy constables found a large amount of meth inside their car.
A deputy pulled the driver over for speeding on Sorters Road in Porter. The deputy reports both the man and woman, identified as Walter Starkey and Miranda Ford, seemed extremely nervous. The deputy then searched the vehicle and located 15 grams of methamphetamine.
Starkey and Ford were both detained, and the deputy called for backup. Starkey was placed in the back seat of the patrol vehicle. Ford was told to stay put about 20 feet from the car along a fence until another deputy arrived to take her to jail.
When the deputy looked away to secure the drugs in the suspects' vehicle, Ford slipped one hand from her handcuffs and ran and entered the deputy's car in the front passenger seat. She locked the door.
Deputies say Ford then unlocked the door as she tried to get into the driver's seat. She was re-secured at that time.
Both Ford and Starkey now face charges of manufacturer/delivery of a controlled substance.
