A grocery delivery start up called Burpy expanded to the Houston area in early December.
Burpy was started by a group of students at the University of Texas in Austin. Customers go online, choose between 50,000 products and order for same-day delivery.
Burpy doesn't have a warehouse or distribution center. Rather, the company hires drivers to shop and deliver locally bought groceries. There is no delivery fee, but customers pay 5 to 20 percent more per item.
The company is currently operating in Austin, San Antonio, and Houston.
