City Council approves plan to reforest Memorial Park, build Post Oak rapid transit line

HOUSTON

The council approved the expansion of Uptown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Number 16. This will allow the TIRZ funding to be used for Memorial Park improvements. The money will also help pay for the construction of a mass transit corridor along on Post Oak Boulevard.

"To provide better transportation options and easier transport along Post Oak, to help relieve congestion along the Galleria area," said Mayor Annise Parker.

She did stress that this plan is not an attempt to commercialize Memorial Park.
