Borrowed election machines to arrive in Harris Co.

HOUSTON That's a big relief to many who feared the fire, which destroyed the county's E-slate voting machines three weeks ago, would mean chaos on November 2. The machines were at the Election Technology Center on Canino Road when a fire broke out, devouring the structure and every machine inside.

Kaufman says she was able to get the machines on loan from Tarrant and Fort Bend. They are arriving here today. Harris County will still have to purchase 10,000 more machines by November, but Kaufman is confident it's a task she can accomplish on time.

Election Day is just around the corner. November 2 a number of important offices will be decided, including the race for Texas governor.
