Pilot makes emergency landing on open field

HOUSTON The small plane landed in the grass near Big John and Highway 249 in northwest Harris County Sunday afternoon. The pilot of the single engine Cessna told sheriff's deputies he was having engine trouble.

"He just said there was a lot of oil coming out, so he feels like maybe a piston had blown," said Sgt. R.J. Scholwinski with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

The pilot made a controlled landing. He wasn't hurt, and there was very little damage to the plane. State troopers are investigating the case.
