TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - You might say the wages of sin will be helping Florida A&M University. The producers of a porno flick have agreed to settle a suit filed by the school. Florida A&M officials charged the producers of "Big Rattler 77" made unauthorized use of the school's colors and mascot, on a Web promoting the X-rated video. ICE OUT-WINNER
WEST DANVILLE, Vt. (AP) - Talk about a good guess! Bill Barber picked the exact
date and time when the ice would go out on Joe's Pond in West Danville, Vt. For
the record it was Monday, at 2:46 p.m. Now, Barber wins five-grand in the Joe's
Pond Ice Out contest. He had five one-buck entries. More 11,500 tickets were

PLASTIC BAGS FOR HAITI
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Paper or plastic? For Ruby Sprengle it's plastic -- but not
for her groceries. She says she hates plastic bags. But the University of Oregon
student is putting the bags to a good use. She's making tarps out of them for
the homeless in earthquake-ravaged Haiti. More than 100 people showed up with
bags and irons at a workshop she helped to organize. The red-hot irons are used
to fuse the bags together to make a large waterproof sheet. Sprengle tells a
local paper (Eugene Register-Guard) they had so many irons, they blew out the
electric sockets in one of the rooms.
PREGNANT COW-INTERSTATE
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Mama's on the mooove. A very pregnant cow made a run for
it along long two busy interstates in Ohio. A rancher stopped to secure his
trailer, when the Black Angus bolted on I-70 near I-71 and downtown Columbus.
The rancher and police chased the animal for about 15 minutes, giving commuters
quite a sight. The cow was recaptured and the rancher took her to the Ohio State
veterinary hospital. An 80-pound female calf was born about a half-hour later.
The rancher has named his new calf, Miracle.
REUNITED WITH CAR
HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) - Ralph Thrash has his 1950 Ford back and it's as good as
new. It was his first car and he used to cruise with his then girlfriend, Joan.
They married and traded in the car in 1958 for a new Plymouth. But Thrash never
forgot the old Ford and spent a decade looking for it. Thanks to a computer
search, the Kansas man managed to locate that very same Ford in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Thrash tells the Hutchinson News he's spent a year restoring the Ford. He says
he loves the car because it brings back old memories.
BEER STRIKE
COPENHAGEN (AP) - These workers aren't striking for better pay or improved
health benefits. They want more beer. Scores of Carlsberg workers walked off
their jobs in protest yesterday. The Danish brewer has instituted a new alcohol
policy that restricts beer drinking to the cafeteria during lunch. Workers used
to be able help themselves all day long from coolers placed around job sites.
Carlsberg officials say the strike is interrupting deliveries in the Copenhagen
area.
