"We pulled up and we had heavy smoke coming from the apartment building. We went in and made an offensive attack, knocked the fire down before it got into the attic," said Charles Watson with the Houston Fire Department. "At this time, the cause of fire is unknown."
Authorities say the unit where the fire started was vacant. Residents in the neighboring apartment escaped the fire. That apartment also suffered some damage.
No one was injured. Fire officials say bad wiring may have ignited the flames.
