Burned bank robber gets prison

HOUSTON On April 16, Daniel Duran robbed a Wachovia Bank in the 2700 block of Smith, threatening the teller with a gun. Fearing for her life, the teller gave him some cash bundles with exploding dye packs in them.

Duran stuffed the money down his pants, where the dye packs soon exploded, burning him. He was arrested a short time later, covered in red dye. Duran was taken to an area hospital with second degree burns to his genital area.

Duran pled guilty to the robbery and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
