Colombian paramilitary member sentenced

HOUSTON Diego Alberto Ruiz Arroyave was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge David Hittner in Houston for conspiring to provide material support and resources to the AUC, designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. government. Ruiz pleaded guilty in October.

He was one of 14 Colombian paramilitary members extradited to the United States in May 2008 to face charges of supporting a terrorist organization and drug trafficking.
