Authorities say on Tuesday, Leonard Law caught his 16-year-son smoking a cigarette inside the home. The boy claims Law used a skateboard to hit him several times until it broke. Then his father picked up a second skateboard and began hitting his son again.

Investigators say the mother, Amy Law, intervened in the attack, but never reported it to authorities.

Leonard Law is being charged with assault of a family member. The mother, Amy Law, faces a charge of failing to report child abuse. Authorities say both are teachers with Dayton ISD.
