Borkowski designated for assignment

HOUSTON The Astros DFA'd the 31-year-old right-hander to make room for the activation of left-handed starting pitcher Wandy Rodriguez from the disabled list.

The 31-year-old Borkowski was 0-2 with a 6.86 ERA in 18 relief appearances. He allowed five homers in 21 innings.

The Astros now have 10 days to trade Borkowski, release him or clear him through waivers.
