The Renegades came alive with a 40-yard pass from Kent to WR Alvance Robinson, which would spark a 27-0 run by the Lubbock offense. The Copperheads' defense held the Renegades to a season low of 46 points but the Kent-to-Robinson connection would deliver three touchdowns and 100 yards on the night.
The Copperheads regained the lead with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard pass from Carlton to Bryan Carroll. The two-point conversion by Ruffins and a defensive stand by Lubbock would close the door on the Copperheads as Renegades DB Virgil Gray picked off Carlton's "Hail Mary" heave with 1:07 left in regulation. The Renegades were able to run out the clock to achieve their third-straight win. The Copperheads, who arguably played their best game of the season, dropped to 0-4.
Carlton completed 17 of 34 passes for 181 yards and 4 TDs. Carlton also ran for 28 yards on one carry.
Watson, who played offense and defense as well as returning kicks, scored two TDs and accounted for 201 all-purpose yards on the night.
