Investigators are trying to learn more about a man and woman found dead inside their home near downtown Houston Thursday. The manager of the eight apartment building on Common at Pinckney went by the home because the couple was late on rent. He smelled a foul odor.

Firefighters were called in. They broke in a door and found the two decomposing bodies -- that of an 82-year-old man on a bed and a 57-year-old woman close by. Investigators think the couple had been dead at least two weeks.

Michael Miller with HPD's Homicide Division said, "It's possible the male had a previous medical condition that contributed to his death. It's also possible that she perhaps committed suicide."

Police are continuing their investigation.
