HOUSTON, Texas -- The Alley Theatre is set to to open its doors on Friday for the first time since Hurricane Harvey.
Part of the recovery at the theater is thanks to some theater students at College of the Mainland.
More than a dozen students have put in hundreds of hours to restore nearly 150 damaged prop weapons. The College of the Mainland offers a certification program in the use of stage weaponry.
The program director thought helping Alley Theatre would be a perfect way for students to learn about the weapons and be of service to their fellow actors.
