Aldine ISD coach accused of having sex with student faces judge

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An Aldine ISD high school coach faced a judge this morning accused of having sex with a student.

Eber Lopez, 35, is charged with having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student at Nimitz High School.

Investigators found sexually explicit text messages from Lopez on the student's phone.

Court documents also claim the coach and student had sex at a motel on several occasions.

Aldine ISD issued this statement: "Aldine ISD is aware of an allegation of a Nimitz ninth grade school staff member who was allegedly involved in inappropriate behavior with a student. The district takes this allegation seriously. The individual was removed from the campus the day this allegation was brought forth and is no longer employed by the district. The safety and security of our students will continue to be a top priority in Aldine ISD."
