Second anti-abortion activist surrenders in Planned Parenthood video case

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An anti-abortion activist who was indicted by a Harris County grand jury for his role in an undercover Planned Parenthood video surrendered to authorities today.

David Daleiden arrived at the courthouse to turn himself in on a charge of Tampering with a Governmental Record. The other activist who was indicted in the case, Sandra Merritt, turned herself yesterday.

Last month, a Harris County grand jury investigating an undercover video of Planned Parenthood found no wrongdoing by the organization, and instead decided to indict the activists involved in making the video, causing an uproar.

The grand jury studied the case alleging misconduct by a Planned Parenthood in Houston for more than two months and decided that no laws were broken. However, Daleiden and Merritt were charged for allegedly showing the Planned Parenthood clinic fake California driver's licenses while pretending to be from a research company called BioMax. An additional indictment for Prohibition of the Purchase and Sale of Human Organs has been issued for Daleiden.
