H-E-B to extend $2/hour raises another month during COVID-19 pandemic

H-E-B continues to reward its employees for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The company announced Thursday it will yet again extend the extra $2 an hour Texas Proud Pay for hourly store, manufacturing warehouse, and transportation partners through June 21.

But that's not all. On top of the pay bump extension, H-E-B says it will be additionally investing in its workers by accelerating merit increases for store and supply chain hourly workers beginning June 22.

The popular grocer said in a tweet that also means continuing to invest in long-term pay for its workers across the company.

The initial temporary pay raises went into effect March 16 and were supposed to end April 12.

However, H-E-B extended the pay to last until May 10. That was followed by another announcement that workers would continue to receive the pay for another two weeks.

Now employees will get to enjoy the raise for at least another month.

"Texans rely on H-E-B and we rely on our great Partners. We understand it is our responsibility to provide essential services to our customers during a time when so many other businesses have not been able to stay open or have had to scale back operations significantly," the grocer said in a statement. "H-E-B Partners come together during times of crisis to take care of each other and our Customers. This is the Spirit of H-E-B."
