HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Detectives say a customer was pistol whipped Tuesday night during a robbery at a northwest Harris County convenience store.

It happened in the 6400 block of Louetta Road, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say two armed men walked into the store as three to four customers were shopping. The robbers took purses from the women and pistol whipped a male several times to the head.

The gun discharged at least once, but no one was shot.

The men took off with cash and the purse of an 80-year-old woman who was trying to buy a lottery ticket. They were last seen heading north into a neighborhood area.

The man who was pistol whipped was bleeding from the head and taken away by stretcher. He's expected to be OK.

No other details were immediately available.
