3-year-old boy dies after being found injured, HPD says
The boy's mother wasn't present when he was injured, but rushed home after others present in the home called her, police said.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police are investigating after a 3-year-old boy was found injured and later died in southwest Houston.

Officers said they received a call from someone who said their neighbor had a 3-year-old that was hurt.

The call came just before 4:30 p.m. from the 6400 block of Ranchester Drive, according to authorities.

HPD said the child was inside the home where he lived with his mother and other relatives when the call came. His mother wasn't home at the time, but she rushed home after other people present inside the home called to tell her the boy was unresponsive.

A neighbor performed CPR on the child before he was taken to a nearby hospital. The child later died at the hospital.

Police didn't immediately release how the child was injured, or if there are any suspects. This is an ongoing investigation.
