GALVESTON, TX -- It's that time of year, when brrrave individuals, groups and organizations jump into chilly water to support Special Olympics Texas athletes. These tough, and not so tough, souls plunged into the water from Galveston's Stewart Beach on Saturday, January 17, 2015.

Hundreds of 'plungers' raised more than $52,000 in the 4th Annual Polar Plunge. After a recent string of cold, dreary days, the sun shone on this special event.

While some were blue even before they hit the water, the smallest Smurfs remained safely on shore. Only the bravest bared it in bikinis, and of all the screaming, it's possible the Wicked Witch of the West had one of the most piercing shrieks.

A good time was had by one and all, and for possibly the first time ever, a plunger emerging from the water announced, "I want to do that again!"
