Warning to San Luis Pass beach-goers
The Coast Guard dropped a swimmer onto the beach below to warn of the dangers

SAN LUIS PASS, TX (KTRK) -- The Coast Guard got creative Monday to promote safety.

The agency's chopper lowered a rescued swimmer to the beach to discuss the dangers of swimming in the San Luis Pass.

The swimmer distributed pamphlets and explained why swimming is banned. Last summer, seven people drowned while swimming at the popular beach spot.

The water is also risky for fishermen because of the strong rip currents.
