JUNEAU, AK -- The newly-elected mayor of Alaska's capital city has been found dead.

Juneau police in a statement identified the man as 70-year-old Stephen "Greg" Fisk, who handily defeated incumbent Merrill Sanford in the October election to become mayor.

A man found Fisk's body at a residence Monday afternoon and alerted authorities. Police say Fisk was pronounced dead at the scene.

Circumstances surrounding the death were not immediately known. Police spokesman Erann Kalwara says the death was unattended, but couldn't immediately say if officers suspected foul play.

Police are investigating.

Fisk was also a fisheries consultant.
