Firefighter burns hand battling southeast Houston blaze

A firefighter suffered burns to his hand and was hospitalized while fighting a fire in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One firefighter was injured battling a house fire in southeast Houston.

It happened around 3:00am this morning at a home on the 7700 block of Camwood at De Leon.

When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from the two story home. As firefighters started putting out the fire, one firefighter received burns to one of his hands. He was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and treated for his injures.

The firefighter will be released from Memorial Hermann Hospital today, but he won't be on active duty for a while. He's expected to make a full recovery. No one else was injured.

Investigators are still trying to determine if the fire was caused by an electrical problem or arson.
