HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A week after two young men were stabbed to death at a Spring Branch apartment complex, the mother of one of the victims is calling for justice. She wants police to charge the security guard who fought with the two victims just before the stabbings.

Mary Helen Anaya doesn't think Houston police are taking these two deaths seriously because of the gang activity the area is known for. The security guard hasn't been charged. She doesn't believe he will be, but hopes she's wrong.

A group of friends and family took to the streets outside the Cancun Apartments to demand a serious investigation into the deadly double-stabbing.

"All I want is the truth. Nothing more. Nothing less," Anaya says.

Mary Helen Anaya's 20-year-old son, Victor Anaya, was stabbed to death the Friday night before Labor Day. The second victim was 16-year-old Alexis Silva.

"We were fixing to move into a two bedroom townhouse on the second and they delayed us to the 15th. My son died on the second," she says.

According to Houston police, witnesses said a security guard went up to four or five guys who were drinking and asked them to leave. One witness tells us Alexis Silva objected.

"He was like, 'Nah I live here, why do I gotta leave? I live here,'" Victor recalls Silva telling the guard. "'These are my homeboys, we chillin', why we gotta leave?'"

Victor says things went south from there.

"He was like, 'You can't do nothing to me, so I don't know why you're still standing there.' He's like, 'What, I can't do nothing?' So he gets off the bike and just starts stealing off on my homeboy."

Victor says during the fight, the security guard pulled out a knife, stabbed Silva in the throat, and then stabbed Anaya in the chest area. He says the guard also tried to stab him, but he was able to move.

Anaya and Silva were dead when Houston police got there. Police say the security guard sustained minor cuts and went to the hospital in a private vehicle. Victor believes he did it to himself while stabbing his friends.

"He has to pay for what he did," Mary Helen Anaya says.

Anaya says these two friends should still be alive.

"Why does security have a knife? Why does he feel he's in harm's way? These were just kids. He was a man. He's trained, I'm sure, to defend himself if he felt...call the officers."

HPD says it's still under investigation.
