It happened along West Mount Houston road and Big John Street just before 10pm.
Harris County sheriff's deputies say the man on the bicycle failed to yield to oncoming traffic as he crossed the road. One car swerved and missed him, but the taxi driver could not stop in time.
Police say the bicyclist was in his late 50s and may have been drunk. He died at the scene.
No charges are expected to be filed.
