A 51-year-old nurse was killed by a snow plow in the Illinois hospital parking lot where she worked early Wednesday. Her colleagues at the hospital tried to save her life, but her injuries were too severe.

According to ABC7 Chicago, Diane Shogren was walking to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington after parking her car when she was struck by a pickup truck with a plow attached as it was backing up.

Officials said it was snowing heavily and visibility was reduced.

ABC7 reports that the driver -- also a hospital employee -- has not been charged, but the Lake County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
