A club owner who helped shape Houston's live music scene has died.

Robert Burtenshaw died of an undisclosed cause. He opened Numbers Nightclub in Montrose in 1978.

Over the years, he brought in a variety of acts from the Village People and Grace Jones, to Alanis Morrissette, Snoop Dogg, and Sound Garden. The nightclub's website has the entire list of performers who've taken the stage there.

Details of a public memorial will be announced soon.
