UPDATE: As many as 14 injured in stabbing at Lone Star College Cy-Fair campus

HOUSTON

The violence broke out at about 11:30am on the Cy-Fair campus on Barker Cypress Road. According to the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department, there are multiple victims, possibly as many as 14. At least one person is said to be critically injured. Life Flight was called to the scene, as were a number of ambulances.

Cy-Fair VFD says four patients have been taken by Life Flight to Hermann Texas Medical Center. Two more patients were taken by ground ambulance to Hermann Hospital. The remainder were taken to North Cypress Hospital, and two people refused treatment at the scene.

James, a student at the school, told Eyewitness News he helped police take one person into custody. He says the suspect, who appeared to be a student, may be hearing impaired, and was armed with a knife similar to an exacto knife, that may be used in animal dissections.

James says he saw the suspect, dressed in black, emerge from the building at a run, and he gave chase. When tackled, the suspect reportedly said, 'I give up, I give up.' James adds that he saw several people bleeding, including some victims with neck wounds. They were tended to by medical crews.

The violence reportedly broke out at the rear of the Health Sciences Building. There's no official word if classes have been impacted at the campus. We're told some students are being held inside classrooms in a lockdown type situation. Other people who appear to be students can be seen walking calmly to their vehicles in the parking lot.

Alan Bernstein, Director of Public Affairs for the college, said, "It appears the campus is now safe, but we have people triple checking the sprawling campus for other suspects and victims."

An alert from the campus read: " Two armed suspects at LSC-CyFair. One suspect is at large. Stay away from the area. Seek shelter in a secure location until the incident is resolved. Be aware of your surroundings. If you have reason to believe that the suspect is in or near your location, notify LSC Police at 281.290.5911, if it is safe to do so. Updates on the situation will follow as new and confirmed information becomes available."

Bernstein says an all-clear will not be given until authorities are certain they have the situation completely under control. Multiple law enforcement agencies are on the scene.

Three people were injured in a shooting at the north campus of Lone Star College in January. The incidents are not believed to be related.
