Officials said a family was swimming Sunday evening in a stock pond on their property near Lake Rd. and North Lake Dr. in Splendora.
The 11-year-old girl's parents turned their heads for a moment to attend to two other children who were with them. When they looked back, their daughter was under water.
The girl's father pulled her from the water, but she was not breathing.
Life Flight was called to the scene. By the time they arrived, officials said the girl was crying, but still having difficulty breathing.
She was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she remained in critical condition late Sunday.
