Pearland woman's killer gets life without parole

HOUSTON Nicholas Michael Jean, 22, entered the plea on May 27 just as his trial was about to begin.

On February 2, 2009, Susana De Jesus was working late at a women's clothing store near Pearland off Smith Ranch and FM 518. According to law enforcement, she was forced into her vehicle and kidnapped. Her vehicle was found abandoned, but De Jesus was found shot to death in a tractor trailer near Reliant Stadium several weeks later.

Prosecutors pursued for the death penalty for Jean, but the defense was asking for life without parole. After several days deliberation, jurors decided on the life sentence.

Jean's alleged accomplice, Wallace Ledet, is in jail, charged with aggravated kidnapping.
