Steps taken to make Buffalo Bayou a National Heritage Area
HOUSTON
U.S. Representative Gene Green introduced a resolution this week to make a 25-mile stretch of Buffalo Bayou the first National Heritage Area in the state of Texas. Once the legislation is authorized, the area can receive up to $1 million per year for 10 years.
Buffalo Bayou flows by the San Jacinto Battleground, where Texas won its independence in 1836.
