Sexual assault suspect sought by police

The search is on for a man accused of raping a woman on Houston's south side. And now, authorities say they have questions for him about his wife, who hasn't been seen in two years. Police say a sexual assault victim identified Raven Lovings, 44, as her attacker. Now they wonder if he knows anything more about his wife's disappearance.

Police say Krystal Cashaw, who was 24 when she disappeared, wanted to leave Lovings, her common-law husband of two years. They say the couple had an abusive relationship. At first, Lovings acted like a concerned spouse, but then investigators say that all changed. Now they want question Lovings after what police are calling questionable behavior.

Cashaw has been missing since July 31, 2007. Police say Lovings cooperated with authorities in the beginning of their investigation, but was later seen tearing down missing persons flyers of his wife.

"It tells me that this is a person for whatever reason needs to be brought in," said Sgt. Brian Harris with the Houston Police Department. "Not only for his criminal activity, but certainly give us an opportunity to talk to him."

The criminal activity police are referring to is the brutal beating and rape of a 27-year-old woman. Investigators say she identified Lovings as her attacker. It happened at his home back on January 19.

"It's terrible," said neighbor Lindsey Spillman. "We never had anything like that happen out here, ever."

A warrant for Loving's arrest was issued and he's been on the run ever since. Police warn he's extremely dangerous. Lovings' relatives, who haven't heard from him in a while, want the 44-year-old to turn himself in.

"That's the only thing he can do to make matters better," a cousin of Lovings, who didn't want to be identified, told us. "If he's innocent, he needs to talk up. If you're running, you're showing that your guilty. You're showing guilt by running."

While they believe Cashaw is still alive, her bank account has remained inactive ever since she went missing.

If you recognize Lovings, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
