Brazen thieves target security guard

Investigators say the security guard was in his private vehicle when he saw a man breaking into a car on Beechnut at Cinnamon. When he went after him, another man started breaking into the security guard's vehicle.

When the guard tried to stop the second thief, detectives say three men attacked him. The guard managed to pull his gun and shoot one of them. One of the suspects wrestled the guard's gun away and tried to shoot him, but luckily, the gun jammed.

The shooting victim is listed as stable. A Houston police officer arrested the other three men.
