The homeowner didn't want to show his face out of fear that the suspect might return after seeing him speak out. He did show Eyewitness News the wounds from where the suspect hit him with a hammer -- a scar on his face, staples in his scalp and bandages on both is arm and leg.

"This is just not right," he said.

The man says he and his wife were attacked as they entered their garage to leave for work. Investigators say the door had been unlocked and the attacker was waiting inside.

"I don't know... I think he is a demon, a monster," the wife said. "What was he thinking? What did he want? I have no idea."

The woman says the suspect first attacked her husband. Even though she is four months pregnant, she tried to pull the suspect off. That's when she says he turned his aggression toward her, even when she shouted repeatedly that she was pregnant.

She recalled, "I told him that I am pregnant, leave me alone. He didn't have any response. He then started hitting me with the hammer on my shoulder."

The couple says the man never demanded anything. They don't know what he wanted or why he was in their garage.

"Since he did not ask for any valuables immediately, he was just there to hurt me," the husband said. "I was just protecting myself and my wife."

They're not even sure how long he'd been inside. They say he fled after they both broke free from him and ran to a neighbor's house to call 911. They only wish he is caught before he attacks someone else.

"I want him off the streets," the woman said. "That's all I have to say."

Detectives have put together a composite sketch of the suspect. The man is African American. They say he is well built and well groomed. He stands about 6'2" to 6'3" and was wearing gym type clothes. If you have any information, you're asked to call the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

Despite their injuries, doctors say the man, his wife and their unborn child should all be fine.
