Students get to sample next year's food

HOUSTON Yesterday, about 200 students from several Harris County school districts sampled offerings from over 40 vendors. They tasted everything from carnitas to fruit smoothies to French toast. And the kids gave the whole grain pizza very high marks.

It was a good opportunity for students who got the chance to sample future menu items.

"We can go and find out, 'Hey, this is good.' Let's say we all like it and get it put in our schools," said Cleveland High School student Ashley Walker.

All of the food must meet federal and state quality and nutrition standards.
