Woman shot during attempted robbery in SW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman is recovering after she was shot in the chest during an attempted robbery.

Houston police say it happened around 11:30pm at an apartment complex on Mullins Drive at Dashwood Street in southwest Houston.

Police say a man was robbed by two men in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Both men fled the scene, running around the corner of a building.

A short time later, the robbery victim says he heard gunfire.

Investigators say the two robbers came upon a woman, who they attempted to rob. A fight broke out and they shot the woman twice in the chest.

Police say the woman is expected to recover from her injuries.

Officers say they are working to get a description of the two robbery suspects.
