Another cool morning, rain chance rising for Mother's Day

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- If you liked the sunny weather Wednesday, you'll love the weather Thursday, but by Mother's Day weekend rain chances return.

Temperatures Thursday morning will once again start in the upper 50 and low 60s under a clear sky. Sunshine will quickly warm temperatures back into the 80s during the afternoon. There is an ozone pollution watch in effect, and those with heart and lung conditions may consider reducing their outdoor exposure during the afternoon.

How long will the dry air and sunshine stick around?
The sunny, dry weather will be with us through Friday. Low temperatures will be near 60 with highs in the mid 80s.

What's the outlook for Mother's Day weekend?
A strong Gulf breeze will bring back the clouds, humidity, and a small chance for showers and thunderstorms. Moisture returning Saturday will give us a 20% chance for rain, but we've had to increase the rain chance on Mother's Day to 30%. It now looks like a front coming into Texas will get closer to us, and we may continue to increase the rain chance as confidence grows in this scenario. Saturday morning's lows will dip into the mid 60s with highs in the mid 80s. It will be even stickier on Mother's Day with lows in the mid 70s and highs near 90. Both days will be breezy with south winds at 15-25 mph.
