Two wrecks bring West Loop traffic to snarl
One accident prompted authorities to shut down all NB lanes of West Loop at 59. The other is affecting three main lanes in the southbound direction.

HOUSTON -- Bellaire police worked two accidents near each other on the West Loop last night.

One accident was fatal and prompted authorities to shut down all northbound lanes of West Loop at Highway 59. According to Transtar, that accident happened just after 8pm and involved at least two vehicles including a motorcycle.

An Eyewitness News photographer saw emergency responders performing CPR on the motorcycle driver on the freeway. We're told the victim was taken to the hospital, where the person died.

Three southbound lanes were also shut down because of another wreck involving a motorcyclist on the opposite side of the freeway. That accident was not fatal.

According to Bellaire police, the motorcyclist in the fatal accident was seen weaving in and out of traffic before the crash. Witnesses told police the person was driving recklessly.

All lanes of the freeway are back open to traffic.
