The public defender for a man accused of throwing an incendiary device at Sam Altman's home says her client has autism and was experiencing an "acute mental health crisis."
"And so this is definitely heartbreaking and challenging not just for the Mission the community, but our city as a whole," says Mayor London Breed.
All nine victims are expected to survive. SFPD says the incident appears to be targeted and isolated, and there is no threat to the public at this time.
David DePape had previously pleaded not guilty to federal attempted kidnapping and assault charges.
David DePape, the man accused of attacking Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband, has entered a plea of not guilty to federal charges stemming from the brutal assault and break in on Oct. 28.
According to federal records, DePape, a Canadian citizen, entered the country in early March as a temporary visitor.
