HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A break-in suspect is expected to be OK after being shot by a pool hall worker overnight in north Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
The shooting happened on North Shepherd near Milliville Drive just after 2 a.m.
Lt. Wiliken with HPD said the 70-year-old employee who takes care of the building was there and heard banging at one of the back doors. Police said he was armed and went outside to see what was happening.
According to HPD, the man rounded the building and encountered a suspect, who police said was the lookout. That suspect then alerted the other suspect on the other side, who was using a crowbar and hammers to get in.
Police said the second suspect charged at the man, who fired his pistol, hitting the suspect in the leg. The injured suspect ran to a nearby Jack in the Box, where employees called police. The other suspect, HPD said, ran the opposite way.
The suspect who was hurt was found by officers and was taken to the hospital before being arrested. The lookout suspect has not been found, HPD said.
