KATY, TX (KTRK) -- For Cy Lakes High School senior De'Aaron Fox, it was his first 17 and under game as a 14-year-old that really opened his eyes.

The University of Kentucky commit says that's when he realized he had a special skill.

"That's when I realized I'm pretty good at this game. I'm playing 17-year-old's, I'm 14 at the time," Fox said.

With each day, each practice, each drill, Fox strives to get better. He knows he's just scratching the surface.

"I haven't even played a college game yet of course I feel like I can get better, even LeBron (James) and Michael Jordan said they can be better," Fox added.

His head coach says Fox tries to practice shooting even when team practice is called off.

"He had a game last year when he had about 50 points, but he missed six or seven shots," the coach said. "He stayed after to practice free throws."

Fox is on a mission to lead Cy Lakes to a district title, he's already become a leader at the University of Kentucky. UK Head Coach John Calipari has nicknamed him "The General."

"We had three top ten prospects commit in the same week. Calipari said commit's want to go to war with me leading that's why he calls me the General," Fox said.

Fox, or "Swipathefox5" as he's known on Twitter, says he wants to help his teammates at Cy Lakes realize their college basketball dreams.

"I want them to play college basketball, most important get paid for it," he said. "If I can help two or three teammates, I feel I've accomplished what I'm here for."
