SUGAR LAND, TX -- Authorities say no one was injured in a Monday evening smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store inside First Colony Mall in Sugar Land.
Just after 5:30pm Monday, two men with bandanas covering their faces rushed Helzberg Diamonds jewelry store. One suspect was armed with a gun, the other a hammer. They smashed a glass case to pieces and got away with an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
Shoppers at the mall couldn't believe what happened.
"Very scary, especially in one of the safest places to live," one shopper said.
Crime tape was all evening Monday, and investigators were searching for any clues that will lead them to the diamond-stealing duo.
"I do really hope they catch them. It's kind of scary," a shopper said.
Authorities say no shots were fired in the mall, and no one was injured.
Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Fort Bend County at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
