FORT BEND COUNTY (KTRK) -- Nathan Maxwell, 36, testified to a jury that he committed the crimes. Prosecutors say he manipulated a girl beginning when she was 11 years old into sexual conduct until the molestation was reported when she was 15.
Maxwell told the child - now an adult -- that he loved her and wanted to marry her, despite the fact he was already married, according to testimony.
"This jury sent a strong message to child abuse victims and to sexual offenders that the citizens of Fort Bend County will not tolerate child abuse - period," Lead prosecutor Laurel Ellisor said.
Maxwell was sentenced to 70 years on the aggravated sexual assault of a child charge and another 20 years for sexual assault of a child.
